Add gound beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce to a large bowl. Puree garlic and onion in a blender and add to the bowl. Mix the ingredients. Form patties that are 4 inches wide and 1 inch thick. Press down on the center of the patties to form a slight well.
Preheat a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 7 minutes on each slide, flipping carefully. Remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside.
Thinly slice the onion and slice the mushroom. In the skillet used for cooking the patties, cook the onion and mushroom for 3 minutes.
In a bowl or measuring cup, stir together beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, sugar, and corn starch. Add this gravy mixture to the skillet with onion and mushroom and stir.
Add the patties back into the gravy and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
