Rice is a staple enjoyed throughout much of the world. It is easy to make, economical, and, gluten-free. Meanwhile, its mild flavor pairs well with endless entrees. There are many different types and varieties of rice you can cook.
But perhaps you have never tried Korean purple rice—my absolute favorite! Its wonderful fragrance and slightly nutty flavor make for an enjoyable experience different from regular white or brown rice. Not only that, its beautiful color can be quite the sight at the dinner table.
Making purple rice is no more complicated than making plain white rice, though; you just need to mix black rice and white rice in a 1:8 ratio. During cooking, the color in the black rice spreads, turning all the rice purple! You can usually purchase black rice at Asian grocery stores or in the international section of some grocery stores. There are also plenty of options to buy them online if you prefer.
