Chimichurri verde is a green sauce made with parsley, garlic, oregano, olive oil, and red vinegar. This popular sauce is widely used in South American countries, hailing from Argentina and Uruguay. To the robust, vibrant flavor of standard chimichurri, this particular recipe adds some lime juice and zest for extra fresh, tart flavor.
While chimichurri is most commonly served as a condiment for grilled meat, that is not the only way you can enjoy this herb sauce. You can also enjoy chimichurri verde as:
- A condiment for grilled meat
- A marinade for any meat
- A dip for crusty bread
- Pasta sauce
- Salad dressing
My favorite way to use this chimichurri sauce is in a steak lettuce wrap with rice and black beans. Although this versatile sauce only takes less than 10 minutes to prepare and involves no cooking, it will instantly enrich any dish with fresh herb flavors from the South American countryside.
